A Neighborhood I’m Proud to Call Home
Clifton is one of Marblehead’s most inviting and accessible neighborhoods — and one of my personal favorites because I live here. Perfectly positioned as the first point of entry from both Swampscott and Salem, Clifton offers unbeatable convenience for commuters heading in and out of town or into Boston. It’s a community that blends charm, practicality, and a true neighborhood feel.
Homes With Heart & History
Clifton’s streets are lined with an eclectic mix of architectural styles, giving the neighborhood its warm, lived‑in character:
Historic farmhouses tucked into quiet corners
Classic capes ideal for first‑time buyers
Two‑story Colonials in a range of sizes
Split‑level homes on peaceful, tree‑lined streets
These homes stretch along Tedesco Road and Humphrey Street, between Ware Pond (Marion Road) and Marblehead High School (Countryside Lane).
Everyday Convenience at Your Fingertips
One of the biggest perks of living in Clifton is how easy everything feels. Along Tedesco Street, you can be in Vinnin Square in under five minutes — with Whole Foods, HomeGoods, UPS, Masters Golf, Dunkin’, and more just moments away.
Neighborhood highlights include:
Tedesco Country Club at the edge of Clifton
The newly renovated YMCA with Boston Ballet classes, a climbing wall, café, gymnastics, swim, and squash
Glover Elementary School (PreK–3), beautifully renovated in 2012 and walkable for most residents
Nature, Trails & Quiet Corners
Clifton offers two beautiful conservation areas perfect for light hikes, dog walks, or simply enjoying a quiet moment outdoors:
Forest River Conservation Area — 26 acres
Hawthorn Pond Conservation Area — 10.7 acres
Further along Humphrey Street, the neighborhood becomes more tucked away, with minimal cut‑through traffic and a strong sense of community. I’ve heard the block parties are fantastic.
This side of Clifton also connects to the old rail trail — now a beloved walking, biking, and dog‑walking path stretching from Swampscott to downtown Marblehead.
Terrific Value in a Prime Location
Clifton’s limited direct water access often translates into excellent value compared to other Marblehead neighborhoods — without sacrificing convenience or charm.
2025 Clifton Market Snapshot:
Median sale price: $1,008,000
Lowest sale: $500,000
Highest sale: $2,003,000
For buyers seeking community, accessibility, and long‑term value, Clifton continues to shine.
